简介

The WEP or Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEPA) system encrypts data transmitted between two devices over a wireless network to protect against unauthorized listening or access to the wireless network. However, cryptographers identified several vulnerabilities in WEP, leading to its obsolescence by the Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) standard in 2003, which was subsequently replaced by the comprehensive IEEE 802.11i standard (also known as WPA2) in 2004.
