Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) technique enables the simultaneous combination and transmission of multiple optical wavelengths within a single fiber optic cable. For instance, if a typical fiber has a capacity of 2.5 Gb/s, DWDM technology can multiplex 8 separate fiber channel signals (OC), effectively expanding the single-fiber transmission capacity to 20 Gb/s.
